Denmark: DPP protests vacation travel to Iraq

In the past a couple of Swedish charter companies offered travel from Sweden to Iraq, also catering to both Danish and Swedish Iraqis.  I don't know whether these flights are still available, but in any case, this has been a long time in coming.

The Danish People's Party thinks that Denmark is making a fool of itself when Iraqis living in Denmark can go to their homeland on vacation but can't be sent home because it's considered too dangerous.

The party's Peter Skaarup is shocked that it's now possible, since both the Iraqi authorities and a travel agency enable vacation trips to Baghdad for Iraqis in Denmark.

Peter Skaarup told Newspaq that this actualizes the need to have a deportation agreement with Iraq, since otherwise Denmark will find itself in a situation where it's making a fool of itself.  He says that's the reality when people can go back on vacation to areas where they can't be sent to.

Skaarup wants integration minister Birthe Rønn Hornbech (V) to start discussions regarding a deportation agreement to Iraq.

According to Politiken the Danish travel agency Prime Travel, opened a plane route from Malmø through Damascus to Baghdad.  The route caters to Iraqis in both Denmark and Sweden.
